Relationship & Conflict Support

Kirstin leading a group in grounding

When something important between people has become difficult, it can be hard to know how to move forward. You may be having the same arguments repeatedly, struggling to talk about something, or feeling stuck in a pattern where nobody quite feels heard.

I offer support for people who want to understand what is happening between them and find more choice in how they respond.

The support I offer can be helpful when there is conflict, disconnection, a difficult conversation that needs to happen, or simply a sense that something between you isn’t working as you would like.

You might be experiencing

  • the same arguments or conflicts happening again and again
  • difficulty talking about something important without things escalating
  • feeling unheard, misunderstood or unable to get through to each other
  • tension, distance or disconnection that you don’t quite know how to address
  • difficulty expressing what matters to you without blaming or withdrawing
  • uncertainty about how to navigate a change in the relationship
  • wanting to have a conversation that feels too difficult to manage alone

This work isn’t limited to romantic relationships. You might come as partners, friends, family members, colleagues, co-parents, or other people who matter to one another privately or professionally.

Relationships can be both the biggest threat to safety and the greatest window for healing.

How I work

My role is to create enough structure and safety for people to slow down and pay attention to what is happening between them.

Depending on the situation, we might work together with everyone involved, or I might work individually with one or more people. Sometimes the aim is to prepare for a particular conversation; sometimes we work towards a supported conversation or mediation. Sometimes the work is about helping someone understand their own position and find more choice in how they participate in a difficult dynamic.

I don’t take sides or try to determine who is right. Instead, I help make space for different perspectives and support people to understand more clearly what is happening — including the feelings, needs, assumptions and patterns underneath the conflict.

My approach is grounded in Nonviolent Communication and informed by mediation, restorative practices and relational conflict work.

We can work in different ways

There isn’t one right format for relationship and conflict work. We can shape the support around what is happening and what you want to achieve.

Supported conversation

You want to have a conversation about something difficult, but would like someone there to help you slow things down, hear each other and stay with what matters.

Mediation

You are in a significant conflict and want structured support to understand the different perspectives and work towards a way forward.

Individual support within a relationship

You may be struggling with your own position in a difficult relationship or recurring dynamic. We can work individually on understanding what is happening, what matters to you, and what choices you have.

Small-group support

More than two people may be involved — for example family members, co-parents or a small group dealing with a shared difficulty. We can work out together what kind of support would be useful.

I support you in:

  • slowing down difficult conversations
  • listening to each other in new ways
  • expressing what matters to you more clearly
  • recognising patterns that keep repeating
  • finding ways of relating that feel more honest and connected

What can become possible

With enough space and attention, patterns that have felt stuck can sometimes begin to shift.
The aim isn’t necessarily to resolve everything or to make everyone agree. Sometimes what matters most is being able to understand the situation more clearly and have more choice about what you do next.

The work may help you:

  • have a difficult conversation without getting lost in the usual pattern
  • understand what is happening beneath recurring conflict
  • express what matters to you more clearly
  • hear another person’s perspective without having to agree with it
  • recognise where you have choice and where you don’t
  • find a way forward that genuinely works for all involved
  • make clearer decisions about what you want to do next
